Quick answer
emBridge is eMudhra's background service that lets a website use the DSC on your USB token. To check whether it's running, open https://localhost.emudhra.com:26769 in your browser: if the page loads, emBridge is running. If tokens or certificates still don't appear, eMudhra's guide says to stop the emBridge service in services.msc, add '127.0.0.1 localhost.emudhra.com' to the Windows hosts file and start the service again. Also bypass your proxy for localhost.emudhra.com and accept the browser's certificate warning for that address.
What emBridge is, and who asks for it
eMudhra describes emBridge as a secure channel between web, desktop and network applications and the keys on your hardware token, smart card or computer. It runs as a Windows service (a daemon on Mac and Linux) and gives portals a local, encrypted API for signing. eMudhra's FAQ says no Java is needed and that there's no known conflict with other applications, including emSigner. Supported tokens include ePass 2003 Auto, WatchData ProxKey, Trustkey, eToken PKI and CryptoID mToken. See our emBridge page.

Install or reinstall emBridge (Windows)
eMudhra's Windows installation guide:
- Download the Windows installer from embridge.emudhra.com. eMudhra lists Windows 7 SP2+ and 8.1, Windows 10 version 1607+, and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1+.
- Install it with admin rights. Run the installer, tick the box to add a desktop shortcut and click Next.
- Click Install. The installer stops the running emBridge service, removes any previous installation and installs the new version.
- Click Finish.
- Open emBridge from its icon to see its running status. The Refresh button restarts emBridge.
Install your token's driver first. emBridge doesn't replace the driver. eMudhra's troubleshooting guide also asks you to use the same version of the token driver as the token.
Check 1: is emBridge running?
Open https://localhost.emudhra.com:26769 in your browser. eMudhra's guide says that if this address loads, emBridge is running on the PC.
Check 2: running, but no tokens or certificates listed
eMudhra's installation guide gives these steps:
- Press Windows + R, type
services.mscand click OK. - Find emBridge, right-click the emBridge service and stop it.
- Open
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc, edit the file hosts, add this line at the end and save:127.0.0.1 localhost.emudhra.com - Go back to Services and start the emBridge service again.
Windows only lets you save the hosts file from an editor opened as administrator, for example Notepad started with Run as administrator.
Check 3: proxy on an office network
From eMudhra's troubleshooting guide (Windows LAN settings):
- If the proxy uses Use automatic configuration script, ask your IT team to add an exception for
localhost.emudhra.com. - If it uses Use a proxy server for your LAN, tick Bypass proxy server for local addresses, then click Advanced and add
localhost.emudhra.comas an exception.
Check 4: browser certificate warning
When you open https://localhost.emudhra.com:26769:
- In Chrome, if an SSL warning appears, click Advanced, then Proceed to localhost.emudhra.com.
- In Firefox, click Advanced, then Accept the Risk and Continue.
Then reload the portal page.
Check 5: the basics eMudhra lists
- emBridge is installed and running.
- The correct token is connected.
- The right driver for that token is installed.
- The portal itself is working.
- You're using a recent browser.
Troubleshooting
Message about administrator rights or port binding. eMudhra's guide asks you to install emBridge with admin rights. Uninstall it, then run the installer again from an administrator account.
It worked yesterday, today the portal says emBridge isn't found. Open the emBridge icon and click Refresh to restart it, then run Check 1.
Token shows in the token tool but not on the portal. Run Check 2 (hosts entry) and Check 3 (proxy). The token tool talks to the driver directly, while the portal goes through localhost.emudhra.com.
Still stuck. eMudhra's emBridge page lists embridge.support@emudhra.com for support. For problems specific to your certificate, contact the authority that issued your DSC.

समस्या और समाधान
administrator rights या port binding वाला संदेश। eMudhra की गाइड emBridge को admin rights के साथ इंस्टॉल करने को कहती है। इसे अनइंस्टॉल करें, फिर administrator अकाउंट से इंस्टॉलर दोबारा चलाएँ।
कल चल रहा था, आज पोर्टल कह रहा है emBridge नहीं मिला। emBridge आइकन खोलकर Refresh पर क्लिक करें ताकि वह दोबारा चालू हो, फिर जाँच 1 करें।
